The Sentinel on Demand quick-response service simplifies short-term environmental noise and/or vibration monitoring projects (1-3 months). The service enables:

- Increased opportunities – Take on monitoring projects regardless of your instrumentation limitations
Control everything online including ordering, configuring, monitoring and reporting. Simply register and follow the below steps.
- Go to the Sentinel On Demand portal and define your monitoring program.
- Receive everything you need: noise or vibration monitoring terminals loaded with software, tripods, microphones or geophones, calibrator, cables, locks and smartphone app. (Alternatively, you can use your own compatible instruments.)
- Set up the equipment using the supplied smartphone app and begin monitoring.
Five Step Process
The Sentinel on Demand subscription model has been designed to be flexible to cope with differing requirements and to align with the way that you charge your clients for noise and vibration monitoring services.
If you are using your own compatible instrumentation then you pay only a monitoring subscription of approximately US$30/€20 per location per day. This is charged for every day that data is collected by Sentinel on Demand. There is a minimum monitoring period of 1 week. With this subscription you have full access to Sentinel with real time display and alerting. Data is captured automatically for the requested period. It is easy to extend or shorten your monitoring programme at any time using the online tools.
After the monitoring is complete your data remains accessible on Sentinel – On Demand for as long as your data subscription continues – see below.
Monitoring and instrument subscription
To include instrument rental you need the monitoring and instrument subscription. This is charged at app. US$105/€70 per location per day with a minimum monitoring period of 4 weeks. It includes everything you need to monitor noise and vibration levels at one location as well as the services provided under the monitoring subscription. After 4 weeks, payment is charged per commenced week.
Continuous monitoring of meteorological conditions may be required at one or more locations and may be added to any monitoring and instrument subscription for an additional app. US$20/€15 per location per day. As with the instrument subscription there is a minimum monitoring period of 4 weeks and includes everything you need to accompany your noise and vibration data with detailed weather data.
The data subscription is a small fee which covers the ongoing hosting of your data once it has been captured from the instrumentation. It is included with the above subscriptions providing that you use the platform at least once every 12 months.
If you haven’t used Sentinel on Demand for more than 12 months and you have more than 2GByte* of previous monitored data stored then we will contact you with several options to maintain your data:
- You can order a monitoring programme to be executed within the next 3 months and we will continue hosting your data
- You can pay a data subscription fee of app. US$175/€100 per year to maintain your data on Sentinel on Demand and maintain access using Sentinel
- You can decide that you no longer need your data hosted on Sentinel – On Demand. You can export your data and after 1 month your account will expire and your data will be deleted from our servers.

You don’t have any stock when I need it. What should I do?
Lodge a ticket to contact the depot manager stating what you are trying to do. If it is a few days either side then we will usually find a way to sort it out. If not then we will consider increasing our stock to service your need.
What happens if I need to extend my monitoring program?
We understand that this can happen if you haven’t managed to collect sufficient data to support your monitoring or if conditions make it unsuitable for measurement. At any time during measurement you can go back to your monitoring program and extend the measurement period. You will be advised of any increase in cost. Where there is a conflict such as if the equipment you are using has been reserved for another program we will contact you and try to work something out.
Something has gone wrong, what do I do?

What sort of phone do I need for the companion app?
Can I relocate monitors during the monitoring program?
Yes, you can! Just go to the Sentinel Client and move the location of the monitors using the wizard on the Setup page.
Where should I place my monitors?
That’s up to you, however, we have a handy blog on what you should consider when placing your monitors.
How do I know if I’ve got suitable cell phone coverage at site?
Our equipment uses standard digital mobile network to communicate noise levels back to Sentinel. To check you have coverage go to site with a mobile phone and check that you have 3G coverage.
Can I cut my monitoring program short?
Let us know and we’ll see what we can do. Lodge a support request stating what you need to do and we’ll contact you.
My instruments arrived late what happens now?
That’s unfortunate. If it was a problem on our side then you will not be charged for the delay.
Help! Someone has stolen the equipment. What should I do?
Even though we provide the instruments with equipment secure it this can happen. You will need to report the theft in accordance with your own insurance programs. Lodge a ticket immediately so we are aware and we will contact you to help resolve it.
I got all the gear but can’t get it working what do I do?
Lodge a ticket, if it’s urgent (it usually is) call the depot manager and they will try to help.
I don’t have mains power at site. What can I do?
Our equipment can operate off mains power or from a 12V D.C source such as a car battery using the cable we supply. Full instructions are in our technical note available here. Our Sentinel On Demand vibration monitors can also operate on Solar Panels.
How do I setup a monitor?
We’ve made it straight forward, you can follow the steps here and watch the NMT Setup video and NMT Setup Application for Mobile Phones video. The method to set-up a vibration monitor is the same. Our companion smartphone app will confirm for you that everything is ok before you leave site.
You haven’t told me how to configure the monitor with what to measure. How do I do that?
You’re right we didn’t, because you don’t have to. When you switch on the instrument it contacts Sentinel which sets it up automatically based on how you configured your monitoring project when you ordered your subscription for that project.
What if the cell phone coverage disappears or isn’t there anymore when I get on site?
Where coverage is not strong you might find that communication drops out under different weather conditions. Don’t worry, while you won’t be able to remotely view the data it is all stored at site. When communication is restored the data will be automatically transferred to ensure that Sentinel has the full set of data.
I’ve received my equipment but there’s something missing.
Lodge a ticket to contact the depot manager who will rectify the problem for you.
How do I pay?
You will be invoiced when payment is due. We try to make it simple as possible for you, we will invoice in arrears with 30 day payment terms. Once you have used Sentinel On Demand for the first time and start storing data you will be invoiced monthly for the data subscription.
Why are there three different subscriptions?
It depends on how you will use Sentinel On Demand. There is a subscription per location per month of monitoring if you want to use our instruments. There is also a lower subscription per location per month if you want to use your own compatible instruments. Finally there is a data subscription which depends on how much data you have stored and is required if you no longer gather new data with Sentinel On Demand. That doesn’t start until more than 2Gb which is equivalent to 20-60 days of monitoring, depending on how much audio is generated by the alerts you set up.
Why has the subscription price changed since last week?
Sentinel On Demand operates in multiple countries with different currencies. Subscription prices are established in Euros. Exchange rate fluctuations and other reasons may require us to alter subscription rates but we will only do this a few times a year.
I want to cancel my subscription. What happens to my data?
We’re sorry that you want to cancel your subscription. The data we hold is yours and you are free to export it and store it locally whenever you like. Once you cancel your subscription we will retain the data for 30 days so you can refer back if there is something that you have forgotten to export. After that time we will delete your account which includes the data, settings and measurement history as well as your username and password to access the platform. Should you change your mind, it will be necessary to re-register on Sentinel On Demand.
You didn’t approve my registration, so what happens now?
There may be several reasons why your application was not approved and these will be made clear to you during the registration process. If you need further information please contact your depot manger.
I’ve registered, why can’t I setup a monitoring program?
The registration process takes a day or two. As soon as its complete you will receive an email from us and your account will be opened for you to start using.
You don’t currently support my region, when will you?
We want to ensure that you have a good experience, Sentinel On Demand is only available in those areas where we can support it. We are continuously looking to expand, if you are unfortunate enough to live out of range please contact us and we will consider expanding.
What’s the different between Sentinel On Demand and Sentinel?
Sentinel was originally developed as a long term noise management service for periods of 3 years and more. It has since expanded to include simultaneous monitoring and management of not just noise, but ground vibration, directional noise, dust and air quality. It is a fully managed service solution where we supply, maintain collect and process the data so that everything is done for you. Sentinel On Demand enables short term brings the same functionality for short term applications as short as 1 month. It is currently limited to Noise and vibration only and while we supply instrumentation, you are responsible for deploying it to site and returning it at the conclusion of the job.
I’ve used Sentinel On Demand for the last 3 months and want to continue for the next 3 years. What do I do?
Great – some people like to use Sentinel for a few months to be sure that it will meet their needs before committing to a longer term for a long term project. If you would like to investigate how much more cost effective a long term subscription rate over a longer multi year term can be, please contact the depot manager and they will have someone contact you directly to discuss.
I need a large monitoring program which is above my credit limit. What can I do?
Part of the registration process is a credit check and you are authorized to use Sentinel to a certain level of credit. If you setup a monitoring program with a lot of locations then you may exceed this credit level. Don’t worry, if that is the case the depot manager will be contacted automatically and they will contact you to discuss how to proceed.
What’s the difference between using my own equipment and using leased equipment?
With Sentinel On Demand, you can use any compatible sound level meter from the 2250 Handheld Analyzer portfolio (2250-L, 2250 and 2270) or Vibration Monitor Type 3680.
In addition, you can lease pre-configured portable NMTs or VMTs that include all accessories required and come with valid accredited calibration certificates. When you use your own equipment, you supply your own outdoor microphone or geophone, sound level calibrator, router and SIM card, environmental protection, tripod and security accessories.
When you register your equipment for use with Sentinel On Demand, we guide you through a compatibility check and help you set it up. If you use your own equipment, you can start a monitoring the very same day while delivery times for leased equipment are 3 days. Other than that, you use your own equipment and leased equipment in exactly the same way.
By the way, if you need to use equipment with accredited calibration, our Sentinel On Demand leased NMT is a very cost-effective alternative.
Note: for users who have little experience of network communication, or wish to have a solution where communication costs are covered, our Sentinel On Demand Leased NMT and VMT is a very cost-effective alternative to investing in and setting up routers and communication subscriptions.
How do I check if my equipment is supported by Sentinel On Demand?
Sentinel On Demand supports newer configurations of 2250 Handheld Analyzer portfolio (2250-L, 2250 and 2270). When you register your 2250 for use with Sentinel On Demand, we guide you through a compatibility check and help you set it up.
Sentinel On Demand supports only the VMT Type 3680 only.

How do I set up my own equipment to communicate with Sentinel On Demand?
We provide guidance on choosing and setting up a router and SIM card and all that is required to connect your NMT or VMT to the internet via a router or LAN. We refer to your network provider’s mobile broadband setup guides and support for professional assistance to ensure optimal costs.
