Affordable, Continuous Air Quality Monitoring

Our continuous air quality monitoring system enables management of dust, gas and odorous gas alongside noise, vibration and weather, to give you a complete picture of the environmental impact of your operations. Continuously measure up to eight of the most common types of pollutants for a fraction of the cost of other monitoring solutions. With our subscription-based solution providing all environmental parameters in one place, you won’t need to learn numerous software packages.

Sentinel and Cairnet

EMS Brüel & Kjær has partnered with enveaTM[1], the French environmental solutions provider, to combine the versatility of its Cairnet air quality stations with Sentinel, for a comprehensive and cost-effective pollution air quality monitoring system.

With Sentinel Air Quality, you can monitor up to eight types of gas, odourous gas and dust at one time. So you can demonstrate compliance, optimise your operations, and provide proof that you’re running a clean operation – all without bulky, expensive and difficult to maintain outdoor enclosures.

Continuous Air Quality Monitoring

Sentinel – the single solution for continuous noise, dust and air quality monitoring

  • Implement your dust management plan and continuous monitoring of other environmental elements in one solution
  • Our portable air quality monitoring system enables you to monitor all aspects of your air quality at a fraction of the cost of other options, and with a higher degree of accuracy
  • When used with Sentinel, get alerts in real time and take action faster than ever before
  • Easy to use, easy to move: No cables or complicated installation, just set up and move to different locations on your site as needed
  • Maintenance required only once per year

Knowing you’re within limits, you can focus on what you do best and not waste resources by over-correcting on emissions when there’s no need to.

Solar-powered, continuous air quality monitoring system

Sentinel Cairnet units are portable and completely autonomous, with minimal maintenance required. Our field-tested technology has accuracy close to reference devices, at a fraction of the cost.

  • Can be used independently of other monitors.
  • Can be expanded after installation
  • Take one-minute measurements, transferring data to Sentinel every 15 minutes
  • Can change the set of pollutants being monitored at any time (dust is fixed, but you can change all other parameters)

Many Combinations, One Solution

Construction, mining, manufacturing, water treatment – they all produce more than one type of emission, and environmental regulations don’t let you choose only one type of pollutant to control. Our continuous air quality monitoring solution provides for monitoring and alerts for eight of the most common types of pollutants:

  • Particulate matter (dust) PM10 & PM2.5
  • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  • Ozone (O3)
  • Hydrogen sulphide/mercaptans (H2S/CH4S)
  • Ammonia (NH3)
  • Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)
  • Non-methane volatile organic compounds (VOC)

All monitoring and alerts are provided in real time. When levels grow near the set limits, Sentinel provides alerts online, via email and SMS, so action can be taken immediately. Reports can also be produced and sent to a distribution list automatically.

What it Means for You

Our continuous air quality monitoring solution provides unprecedented flexibility in producing accurate air quality measurements. Sentinel Air Quality provides for a wide variety of compliance monitoring needs across a broad swathe of industries. including:

  • Leak detection, and monitoring other types of fugitive emissions
  • Forecasting: identify when you’re most at risk, and take steps to reduce it
  • Presentation of results to stakeholders in real time
  • Providing data for modelling surveys
  • Process adjustment

For applications that require reference level air quality measurements or approvals to national standards we have a wide range of options available. Please contact us for more information.

Continuous Air Quality Reporting

Reporting

Using our Report Wizard, you can define parameters for a report to be produced regularly, and also arrange for it to be e-mailed automatically to a set distribution list. The report can encompass a variety of air quality metrics, and provide segments across locations and times of day. Although the criteria for compliance are normally set at a fixed level, you can set different thresholds for days or times of day. When any threshold is exceeded, alerts are generated in real time and can be sent via e-mail or text message. The alert indicates the exact location, time, level recorded and the compliance limit.

How it Works

A Cairnet device is a portable air-monitoring station containing up to four sensors within a waterproof enclosure. It is equipped with two solar panels and an internal battery that work together to provide autonomous power. (Powerline connections are available for use in jobs where solar power is impractical or unavailable.) The device can be configured to measure at intervals ranging from one minute to 24 hours; data is communicated to Sentinel every 15 minutes over a cellular mobile connection. Gas and dust are measured via sensors, the output of which is captured by the onboard microprocessor. It is recommended that the sensors be replaced annually, but they can last up to two years.
